Motili

Connecting Contractors and Property Owners

Background

Motili is forging a new path in the repair and replacement industry by connecting contractors with property owners through its game-changing technology. The company provides end-to-end job management, a network of qualified contractors, factory direct pricing, and its own on-demand platform integrated with mobile devices and consumer Internet of Things (IoT) products. Motili looked to Spire for user experience leadership for its Android and iOS applications.

Goal

Motili needed an optimal user experience with a clear hierarchy of content for contractors creating, editing and accepting work orders, uploading photos, checking in at job sites, and completing jobs. The requirements for the platform needed to be further defined and documented prior to design, with the output being an actionable product roadmap for release. Main priorities were clarity of information, ease of use and streamlined functionality.

Approach

People in the property maintenance industry are physically on the move and having a mobile product to use on-site and at various locations is vital for managing jobs. Spire used its User-Centered Design (UCD) process, which included interviews with prospective and current users of Motili’s desktop application to figure out the “voice of the customer” and the intricate requirements that would have to be met.

The results were staggering – customers were delighted and the marketplace was wowed. This is a great example of the power of great UX design in practice.
